Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 services
The following services will operate in East Wichel over the Christmas and New Year period.
- Waste and recycling collections
-
There’s very little change to waste and recycling collections in East Wichel this Christmas, with most collections happening on their usual scheduled days. The only changes are
- Garden waste
- There will be no garden waste collection on Monday 21st December.
- Excess cardboard
- From Monday 21st December 2020 to the end of January 2021, Swindon Borough Council will collect additional recycling as long as it is presented in sturdy containers. If you have excess cardboard, please break it down into manageable pieces and bundle it neatly next to your recycling boxes for collection. Your additional recyclable materials may be collected by a second vehicle at a different time. The council will not be collecting additional non-recyclable waste.
- Christmas trees
- Real trees — with all decorations and lighting removed — should be placed at the front of your property, clearly visible from the road, between Monday 4th January 2021 and Friday 29th January 2021 and left out until collected. The borough council’s garden waste recycling team will collect trees as they operate in the area, which may be a different day to the usual waste collections. The expected dates in East Wichel are 4th and 18tth January, but may be later owing to the extra trees to be collected.
- Pubs & Restaurants
- As a consequence of Swindon entering Tier 3 Very High Alert restrictions, from Boxing Day Saturday 26th December Copacabana Brazilian Kitchen, The Bayberry, and H&W Wichelstowe will all be closed until further notice.
- Takeaway
- Wichelstowe Fish Bar will, as in previous years, be taking a break between Christmas and the New Year. From Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd December they’re open 4 pm to 9 pm. On Christmas Eve, Thursday 24th December they’re open 4 pm to 9 pm. They’re then closed through to the New Year, reopening on Monday 4th January 4 pm to 9 pm.
