East Wichel Way paving works
Over the coming month or so, Powerwash Contractors Ltd will be working on the footpaths beside East Wichel Way, on behalf of Taylor Wimpey’s contractors, Lake Edge Ltd.
Powerwash Contractors started work fixing defective kerbs several weeks ago, and since Tuesday 7th January have been jet washing the footpaths clean. This is in preparation to lift and relay defective and sunken block paving. The works will start at the eastern end, near Cornwood Road, and then progressively make their way along East Wichel Way to Arnhill Road. The jet washing works are expected to take about one month, but may take longer if the weather is poor. The company will drop letters through the letterboxes of residents near each section as they move along the road, so those nearest to the works should know when work will be happening near them.
After they’ve made their way along all of East Wichel Way, the company will then do any remedial work required by Swindon Borough Council for the works to meet their standards for road adoption.
The company aim to minimise disruption during the works, but there will inevitably be some noise from the pressure washing. We’ve been told by Paul Bunney at Powerwash Contractors that anyone with questions should speak to the lead workman on site.
Although the works are being done as part of adoption works, there are many other things Taylor Wimpey need to do to bring things to the standards needed for adoption, so don’t expect the roads to be adopted by Swindon Borough Council any time soon.
