Police seek witnesses after Bentley abandoned in East Wichel
A police helicopter circled over East Wichel for a long time early on Sunday afternoon, after a high speed chase along the M4 motorway. A Bentley was reported driving at high speed between the two Swindon junctions of the motorway at 1.30 pm. The police gave chase and the car left the motorway at the West Swindon junction. The car was then abandoned in Barbrook Road, where it was found by the police at 1.45 pm. The two occupants of the car, one male and one female, had left the car.
A 40-year-old man from Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for officers and is currently in custody. The police have not yet found the woman.
The police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the car driving at speed or erratically, or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the Wichelstowe area around the time of the incident. They would also like to hear from anyone who may have dash cam footage of the car.
