Christmas and New Year municipal and transport services
Swindon Borough Council and local bus companies have the following changes to their services in East Wichel over Christmas and the New Year.
- The waste and recycling collection that would otherwise be on Christmas Day (mainly for those living to the north of East Wichel Way) will be done at some time between Wednesday 27 December and Saturday 30 December. Waste and recycling should be put out by 6.30 am on Wednesday 27 December and left out until it is collected.
- The waste and recycling collection that would otherwise be on Boxing Day (mainly for those living to the south of East Wichel Way) will be done on Saturday 30 December. Waste and recycling should be put out by 6.30 am on Saturday 30 December.
- Garden waste collections are suspended for two weeks from Monday 25 December to Friday 5 January 2018. They resume on Monday 8 January 2018.
- Real Christmas trees (with decorations and lights removed) should be left at the front of homes, clearly visible from the road, between Monday 8 January and Friday 19 January and left out until collected. The council’s garden waste recycling team will collect trees as they operate in the area, which may be a different day to the usual refuse and recycling collections.
- Both Thamesdown Transport and Stagecoach are operating a normal bus service until 8.00 pm on Christmas Eve. There are no services on Christmas Day, and a Sunday Service on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve they are operating a normal bus service until 8.00 pm. There are no services on New Year’s Day. Thamesdown Transport are operating a normal service on all other days. Stagecoach are operating a Saturday service on other days between Christmas and the New Year.
We Wish all our readers an enjoyable Christmas, and a happy and peaceful new year.
