After a consultation that ran for sixteen months, the Swindon Borough Council cabinet member responsible for car parking, Councillor Garry Perkins, has signed the decision that will allow parking restrictions to be introduced in East Wichel. The proposed restrictions have been a divisive issue in the East Wichel community, with strong opinions expressed on both sides. Community meetings were often almost equally split between those in favour of and those against the restrictions.
The date from which the parking restrictions will be introduced is not yet known.
