General election in July – the candidates for Wichelstowe
A General Election is happening on Thursday 4th July. A change to constituency boundaries means that East Wichel and the rest of Wichelstowe are now in different constituencies, as the former South Swindon constituency has been split.
Like in the local council elections in May, voters will need photo id to be able to vote at a polling station. Photo id is not needed for those with a postal vote. Full details of the elections across the borough are on the forthcoming elections page of Swindon Borough Council’s website.
East Wichel
For East Wichel, which is in the new Swindon South Borough Constituency, there are six candidates standing for election.
- Heidi Alexander – Labour Party
- Robert Buckland – Conservative Party
- Martin Costello – independent
- Roderick (Rob) Hebden – Green Party
- Catherine Kosidowski – Reform UK
- Matthew (Matt) McCabe – Liberal Democrat
Robert Buckland was, until parliament was dissolved at the end of May, the Member of Parliament for the South Swindon County Constituency.
The polling station for East Wichel is the StoweAway Community Centre, at the end of the car park by East Wichel Primary School. The polling station will be open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday 4th July.
Middle and West Wichel
The rest of Wichelstowe is now in the East Wiltshire County Constituency. There are six candidates standing for election.
- Pete Force-Jones – True & Fair Party
- Emily Herbert – Green Party
- David Kinnaird – Liberal Democrat
- Danny Kruger – Conservative Party
- Rob Newman – Labour Party
- Stephen Talbot – Reform UK
Danny Kruger was, until parliament was dissolved at the end of May, the Member of Parliament for the Devizes County Constituency.
The polling station for Middle and West Wichel is the Community Room at The Deanery Academy. The polling station will be open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday 4th July.
