Borough and Police Commissioner elections in May
Elections for councillors to Swindon Borough Council and for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire are happening on Thursday 2nd May. This year, like last year, voters will need photo id to be able to vote at a polling station. Photo id is not needed for those with a postal vote. East Wichel
For East Wichel, which is in the Old Town ward of Swindon Borough Council, there are five candidates standing for election to one seat.
- Daisy Bowie – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
- Bill Hughes – Green Party
- Jane Milner-Barry – Labour Party
- Bazil Solomon – Conservative Party
- Martin Wiltshire – Liberal Democrat
Jane Milner-Barry is one of the current councillors for the ward and is standing for re-election.
The polling station for East Wichel is the StoweAway Community Centre, at the end of the car park by East Wichel Primary School. The polling station will be open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday 2nd May for both the borough and the police and crime commissioner elections.
Middle and West Wichel
The rest of Wichelstowe is in the Wroughton & Wichelstowe ward of Swindon Borough Council. There are seven candidates standing for election to two seats.
- Saleh Ahmed – Labour Party
- Martin Barrett – Liberal Democrat
- Gayle Cook – Conservative Party
- Matty Courtliff – Conservative Party
- Simon Fairbourn – Green Party
- Abdul Hamid – Labour Party
- Stan Payak – Liberal Democrat
There are two seats up for election as there is an additional vacancy as a result of then councillor David Martyn resigning on 21st March. Councillor Brian Ford, whose seat is also up for election this year, is not standing for re-election.
The polling station for Middle and West Wichel is the Community Room at The Deanery Academy. The polling station will be open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday 2nd May.
Police and Crime Commissioner
On the same day as the borough council elections, there will be an election for the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Wiltshire Police area. There are four candidates standing for the role.
- Stanka Adamcova – Labour and Co-operative Party
- Alan Hagger – Liberal Democrats
- Mike Rees – independent
- Philip Wilkinson – Conservative and Unionist Party
Philip Wilkinson is the current Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire, standing for re-election.
Voting will be at the same times and polling stations as the borough council elections.
